A Globe & Mail Home of the Week: A complete renovation, addition
and transformation of a modern 1960’s split level home into
an aged Georgian style home on the edge of a Rosedale ravine.
The house has five bedrooms in 7,000 square feet. The owner
worked with Paul Wright to design a house which adhered as
closely as possible to the traditional Georgian style while
still providing a comfortable and modern family living space.
The house is situated at the end of a cobbled stone street and
takes advantage of its well treed setting with many levels of
windows overlooking the ravine. One of the centrepieces of the
home is a two storey library with an inlaid stained glass vaulted
ceiling, circular wrought-iron staircase and cherry wood cabinet
walls. ACI provided the complete architectural design (including
the interiors right down to plaster mouldings and stained glass
work). |
